Turtle Cove Research Centre

The Turtle Cove Research Facility (GPS: 13°26’48”S 48° 20’09”E) is situated on the Northern Side of Nosy Komba, otherwise known as Black Lemur Island, North West Madagascar.

Our facility has a main house with a separate dining and deck area which is used at meal times, for meetings, lectures and general relaxation. This lodge also houses the Onsite Manager’s office as well as the management accommodation. There is direct access onto an idyllic beach and the views extend far across to the Lokobe National Park.

Both the research facility and accommodation are eco-friendly with solar powered lighting. Charging facilities for cameras and mobile phones are limited as we make use of a generator, so please limit the amount of electronic equipment you bring along. We encourage volunteers to bring solar battery packs for charging personal equipment as an alternative.

Volunteers are accommodated in communal bungalows adjacent to the main lodge that are fitted with bunk beds. The ablution facilities are modern and hygienic with running water, flush toilets and cold water showers.

The centre has two permanent ground staff maintaining the gardens, four Chefs and three assistants providing volunteers with three meals per day and maintaining the communal living areas. Each meal is prepared on site in the traditional Malagasy cooking method using fresh, locally grown, seasonally available produce.

Management staff are on hand 24 hours per day to assist volunteers. Contact us today to find out more about Turtle Cove and how you can join us.
